DEFENSE TECH
Permanent magnets are critically important in the defense sector in view of their widespread use in missiles, drones, vehicles of all kinds including armored vehicles, marine engines etc. The use of drones in warfare is a phenomenon which has exploded in just the last five years. Growth trends for the use of drones for both military and civilian purposes in virtually every country in the world are among the most pronounced in the world. Permanent magnets play a crucial role in both drones and missiles, contributing to their functionality, efficiency, and performance.

Drones
- Motors: Drones rely heavily on brushless DC (BLDC) motors for propulsion. These motors utilize permanent magnets. .
- Sensors: Drones use a variety of sensors for navigation, stability, and orientation. Many of these sensors, such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and magnetometers, utilize permanent magnets. For instance, a magnetometer uses a permanent magnet to detect the Earth's magnetic field, helping the drone determine its heading.
- Actuators: Some drones use actuators for controlling various mechanisms, like gimbal stabilization or payload release. Permanent magnets are often used in these actuators to provide precise movement and force.

Missiles
- Guidance Systems: Missiles often use inertial navigation systems (INS), which rely on gyroscopes and accelerometers that may incorporate permanent magnets. These systems help the missile maintain its course and track its position even without external signals.
- Actuators: Missiles use actuators for controlling their flight surfaces (fins) and maneuvering. Permanent magnets can be found in these actuators to provide precise and responsive control.
- Proximity Fuzes: Some missiles use magnetic proximity fuzes to detonate the warhead when it gets close to a target. These fuzes utilize permanent magnets to detect changes in the magnetic field caused by the presence of a large metal object.

Advantages of Using Permanent Magnets:
- High efficiency: Permanent magnets don't require external power to generate a magnetic field, making them highly efficient.
- Compact size and lightweight: This is particularly important for drones and missiles where weight is a critical factor.
- Reliability: Permanent magnets are generally very reliable and have a long lifespan.
By utilizing the unique properties of permanent magnets, drones and missiles can achieve improved performance, efficiency, and reliability in their respective applications.
